Welcome to thedrumcoach website!

Thanks for visiting my site. My name is Peter Welch aka 'thedrumcoach', an experienced 'world music' percussionist and drum teacher. I work in Shropshire mainly around Church Stretton, Ludlow, Bishops Castle and Shrewsbury with regular drum workshops running there.

Have a look around the site to find what you need. The tabs at the top provide more information.

To give me an idea of who's been visiting, you can write in the guestbook - I promise I won't bombard you with email and offers!

The concept behind thedrumcoach is to make funky West African rhythms available to adults and teens (16+) in a friendly and fun learning environment. It's a not-for-profit enterprise so contributions go to various good causes and charities in West Africa, mainly in The Gambia.

thedrumcoach makes frequent donations to The Amadu Bansang Jobarteh School Of Music in The Gambia: http://abjschool.org/ where they run a school to teach kids the arts of balafon, dance, drumming, etc. Help these kids have a better life - 'building bright futures on ancient foundations'.

I try to travel to West Africa as often as possible, to learn new rhythms and experience different cultures. My photo gallery features several recent pictures. Do take a look...
